Understand the Difference Between Sectional Garage Doors and Steel Roll Up Doors

There are a couple of main differences between sectional garage doors and their roll up counterparts. For starters, roll up doors – as the name would indicate – roll up into a coil above the opening for the door when they are retracted. On the other hand, sectional garage doors move back into the building, coming to rest parallel to the ground once they are fully retracted. Obviously, if you will need access to the vertical space that would be occupied by a sectional door, you’ll need to stick with the roll up variety. 

Another key difference here is the materials used to construct each door. Typically, roll up doors will be heavier and more sturdy than sectional doors, allowing them to take more punishment while on the job.
